The Silence Between Us

Love is supposed to be beautiful. But sometimes, it’s the very thing that leaves you broken.

Aarav and Meera met in college — two strangers drawn together by fate. Aarav, with his quiet confidence, and Meera, with her wild laughter, were opposites that somehow just fit. They weren’t perfect, but they were perfect for each other. Long walks under the stars, late-night phone calls, shared dreams everything felt infinite. But life has a way of testing the strongest bonds.

After graduation, Aarav got a job offer in another city his dream job. Meera encouraged him, even helped him pack. “We’ll make it work,” she promised with a smile, hiding the storm inside her. And at first, they did. Calls, texts, visits. But the distance grew not just miles, but in silence. Delays in replies, missed birthdays, and slowly, love turned into waiting.

One rainy evening, Meera stood alone at the train station. Aarav was supposed to visit. She waited three hours before she realized he wasn’t coming. No call. No excuse. Just absence. When she called him that night, he didn’t pick up. Not that night. Not the next.

Days turned into weeks. When Aarav finally called, his voice was tired. “I’m sorry,” he whispered, “I’ve changed. We’ve changed.” Tears streamed down Meera’s face. “You changed because you chose to. I was still right here.” They didn’t fight. No screaming. No drama. Just silence — the kind that breaks your soul more than words ever could.

Months passed. Meera saw his photos online smiling with someone new. That hurt more than anything. Not because he moved on, but because it looked like he was never in pain. Was it that easy for him to forget?

But love, real love, doesn’t just disappear. Aarav would still open their old texts sometimes and smile. He kept the bracelet she gave him. On sleepless nights, he replayed their memories like old songs he could never forget.

Meera, too, still visited their favorite park. She would sit on the same bench, watching couples pass by, wondering why her love story ended without a goodbye.

They both loved each other deeply. That never changed. But sometimes, love alone isn't enough. Life, distance, and timing write their own cruel endings.

Years later, they passed each other on a busy street. Their eyes met for just a second — no words, no gestures. Just a silent recognition of a love that once was.

And just like that, they walked past each other… carrying the weight of everything unsaid.

Sometimes, the most painful love stories are the ones that never get closure.
